CURRICULUM

The I.P.Ρ. "Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism" confers a Postgraduate Diploma (MSc) in Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism.

It is structured over three (3) academic semesters, delivering a total of ninety (90) ECTS (1 ECTS = 26 hours of workload). Each semester of the curriculum is credited with thirty (30) ECTS in accordance with Article 14 of Law 3374/2005.

To obtain the MSc Diploma, students must attend and successfully complete ten (10) postgraduate courses over the semesters, accumulating a total of sixty (60) ECTS credits. Specifically: In the first semester, four (4) Compulsory Courses and one (1) Compulsory Elective Course, totalling thirty (30) ECTS. In the second semester, four (4) Compulsory Courses and one (1) Compulsory Elective Course, also totalling thirty (30) ECTS. In the third semester, students prepare their Master's Thesis, which is credited with thirty (30) ECTS.

The teaching programme is determined by the Curriculum Committee (C.C.). The course timetable is usually announced for the winter semester in early November and for the summer semester in early March.

The winter semester commences in the first week of November, lasting for 13 full weeks. The spring semester begins in the first week of March and lasts for 13 full weeks. The duration of the semesters is as follows: the winter semester extends until the end of February, and the summer semester until June 30. The examination period for the winter semester is set from the 20th to the end of February, and for the summer semester from June 20 to 30.

Each course involves a minimum of three (3) weekly teaching hours, with six (6) ECTS credits per course. Thirteen (13) teaching sessions are included for each course per semester. Students are required to register for five (5) courses at the beginning of each semester.

Courses are conducted during the afternoon hours and may also be scheduled on Saturday and/or Sunday to accommodate working or practicing postgraduate students.

The educational process employs synchronous distance education methods, as outlined in the Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette 1079/Τβ/28-2-2023). It is also possible to organise in-person classes with parallel synchronous transmission of ongoing teaching work using electronic means (hybrid teaching).

Following the completion of the courses in the second (B) semester, each postgraduate student must prepare a preliminary research outline in the form of a brief summary of a thesis. They propose a supervising professor with the latter's agreement, and the assignment of the subject is confirmed by a decision of the C.C. of the I.P.P.

For the examination of the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis, a three-member Examination Committee is appointed by the C.C., including the supervising professor and two (2) additional members of the teaching staff with the same or related scientific specialization. After the examination, the three-member Examination Committee submits the evaluation and the grade of the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis to the Secretariat for approval by the C.C. of the I.P.P.
