MSc “Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism”

The following Departments and Institutions participate:

Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
and
Department of Department of Organisation Management, Marketing and Tourism of the School of Economics and Management of the International Hellenic University

The program focuses on religious and pilgrimage tourism as a religious and cultural good and aims to respond to the public's theological spiritual interests combined with its cultural religious interest in visiting religious sites.

  • It meets the need for responsible and valid training by the most appropriate university units: the Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture and the Department of Organization Management, Marketing and Tourism. The first Department mainly covers the theoretical issues of the program, while the second mainly the practical applications, developing in the most appropriate way an interdisciplinary approach to the subject.
  • It aims at training graduates of Theological Schools and Ecclesiastical Academies, as well as other related training (such as priests, church ministers, etc.), aimed at an audience with religious-cultural and theological interests. It also aims at training graduates of Schools related to Tourism, to whom it offers reliable and valid knowledge about the special form and content of religious and pilgrimage tourism.
  • The program aligns to the international scientific and technological developments regarding its subject and equips its students with modern specialized knowledge, taking into account the requirements of the labor market both in Greece and internationally. At the same time, it promotes scientific knowledge and research and contributes to the extroversion and diffusion of its results in society.

The study program is structured in 3 academic semesters and grants 90 ECTS. After the successful completion of the program, the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (MSc) "Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism" is awarded.
